I remember painting the walls of an office on Seminole Drive in Marietta. I rented from a medical doctor who had grand plans for a healing center. It was exciting! I had been involved in hypnosis for a long time – since 2003 – and it had changed my life. Opening the office was a big deal, and it felt like I was on the “ground floor” of an amazing practice supported by other healing modalities.
Here I was – a culmination of years of experiencing the benefits of hypnotherapy and stepping into the role of the well-trained hypnotherapist. It was exciting, and yet nerve-wracking.
Fast forward less than a year later and things had changed for the doctor. She closed the office really before it got started, and I had to find a new location on short notice. I was somewhat relieved because some construction was happening that brought a consistent flow of dump-trucks back and forth in front of the building. I was literally hypnotizing to the slamming sound of dump trucks! “With every sound of every dump-truck that passes, you go deeper and deeper…”
I quickly found a space in a building on Roswell Road at the intersection of Sewell Mill Road. A large single office on the 3rd floor that served me well over the next almost 6 years – it was great until I outgrew it.
The next move was made to include other modalities and practitioners, which meant a larger space. The office suite I am sitting in as I write this opened 5+ years ago. Over time the other practitioners moved on, leaving me with a big, expensive space and a lease that tied me to this space until May 31, 2023.
I knew I wanted to continue seeing my clients in person, so I started searching a few months ago for a good space to move into. It was very frustrating. Too big, too small, too much money, wrong area, bad energy, and so on. When I was at my wits end, I decided to hand it over to God. Say what?
Yes. I literally asked God “Where do YOU want me?” Whether at home doing virtual sessions, inside another practice, a new office park, this office with a co-tenant, or some other place I was unaware of, I trusted that He already knew – God knows way before we do. He knows the end from the beginning, and I knew He was not through with my work in this practice.
When I paid May’s rent, time had passed, and nothing had presented itself. In that moment I felt an impulse to call the agent, Earlean, that I was dealing with at the rental office here in the Williamscraft Office Park. She said a space had just come available. A long-time tenant right under their office had just retired. Talk about a suddenly – they had no idea until she had already packed all her paperwork up and moved out, leaving an office full of old furniture.
They didn’t know it. I didn’t know it. But God did, and that very place is my new office!
If you know me, you know I have consistently “done the work” because the work is always the work. When something comes up, I find the appropriate master practitioner to help me. This has allowed me to have flexibility of thinking and to move through things quickly. I handed this over the Master of all Master Practitioners, the God of the Breakthrough, with trust (faith) that the right option with present itself. I simply had to know when to stop stressing and start trusting.
